What is ISPA?

ISPA stands for Isleham School Pool Association. We help the school with the running of the pool: our membership fees and money raised through fundraising go towards the general upkeep and running costs of the pool, which, as you can imagine, are significant. Our committee also assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the pool during the summer holidays.

Many primary schools have lost their swimming pools in recent years, so we are extremely proud of our association, its members and our committee who work hard to ensure that our pool remains open and a real asset to the school. Having a pool on site means that for some of the Spring term and all of the Summer term, the children have lessons at least once a week.  Not only is swimming an important life skill, but it is also a very good way for children to exercise.

Why Join ISPA?

Families belonging to the Association can use the pool twice a week after school, on Saturday mornings, and in the school holidays during the swimming season (approx. May to October).  For a price of £25 for the whole family you can attend as many out of school sessions as you like.

Who can Join?

You can join ISPA as long as you have a child at Isleham Primary, or registered to start in September and have completed a short first aid session. Younger siblings can swim as well although you may need to get in too, if they can’t stand.  You can buy guest passes to bring friends or relatives but please note the pool is only one metre deep and therefore not suitable for older children.

How do I Join?

We send out information in March/April. You will receive details of the Resuscitation Courses and by attending a course you will receive the information pack and joining instructions. Joining the association just means you can swim, you are not signing up to the committee, although new committee members are, of course, always welcome!
