Mrs Staward's 2017-18 Year 5 Class

Welcome to the Year 5 Class 2017-18 with Mrs Staward, Mrs Dalton-Cole, Miss Thickpenny & Mrs Airey.

Check back here regularly to find out what is happening in Year 5 this term.

Welcome to the autumn term in Year 5. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful summer break. We are already settling in, working hard and looking forward to a busy and enjoyable term ahead.

We are hoping to organise a visit to enhance our Victorian topic … so please look out for any old flat caps and aprons which may be worn on that day.  During the term we will also have ‘Victorian School Day’– the children are already beginning to find out how hard life was as a child in Victorian times. We will share our learning in our class assembly on Friday the 17th November.

Our homework routine will remain as it was in Year 4: 15-30 minutes daily reading; up to 30 minutes maths activity (usually set on MyMaths on a Thursday) and learning spellings from the attached Year 3/4 and 5/6 spelling lists.I will also send home the list of words we are working on each week in class.

If you have any questions about Year 5 learning, please do not hesitate to contact me. Our autumn Parent evenings will take place on the 16th and 17th October.
