Witchford School Sports Partnership
The South African flag- Isleham Primary represents South Africa in our inter-schools tournaments
The children at Isleham C of E Primary School enjoy a wide variety of sporting activities. We offer at least 2 hours high quality physical education each week in addition to lunchtime and playtime or extra-curricular club opportunities. We promote a healthy and active lifestyle for all of our children.
We are fortunate to have a heated school pool on site, so that all of our children can enjoy weekly swimming lessons from April through to October each year.
In addition, each class enjoys P.E. lessons in gymnastics and dance in the school hall each term, and games and ball skill lessons outdoors on the playing field, or in the playground on a weekly basis. We ensure children enjoy all elements of the P.E. curriculum, and benefit from specialist sports staff leading lessons at Key Stage 2, as well as offering some exciting after-school clubs and lunchtimes.
Children compete in local tournaments, matches and sporting events with neighbouring schools, including in football, multi-skills, cross country and cricket. Many are run by the Witchford Schools Sports Partnership.
Our playground and field are well equipped for active playtimes too with a climbing wall and playframe, and plenty of space to run; there are organised activities at lunchtimes by our sports specialist coach and our trained group of pupil play leaders.
In 2018-19, children will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities and events. We are incredibly proud of the way children represent the school in sporting activities both within school, in competitions and festivals with local schools and outside of school in local clubs. We participate in 'School Games' activities and the 'Witchford Schools Sports Partnership' events- see below.
The School Games are inclusive to all young people and provides opportunities for everyone to get involved, either within school, against other local schools, or at county or regional level. Some events also act as pathway events to further competition in the future.
Please see our list below of news reports about sport, which is updated regularly with photos and news stories, our weekly newsletters, website galleries and our School Games Sports Display board in school (by the hall) where you can see results and upcoming events. At the bottom of the page, there is also a list of sports club links for children who want to get involved in sport outside school.

Everyone is invited to join the fun at Premier Sport Holiday!
Inspire to Engage is Premier Sport’s brand new holiday course initiative. Your children will keep busy and active with a huge variety of activities and sports for them to enjoy during the school holiday. The fun environment on our holiday courses means they mix with loads of children of their own age, get active and most importantly have fun.
The programme is accessible across all age groups and abilities. It ensures your children have fun with friends, at the same time learning the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle. The programme helps your child improve their communication skills, build their self-confidence and develop valuable social skills.
It’s a fantastic, healthy, way for them to get out of the house. They love being active and of course it’s cool being with friends. The usual verdict is ‘brilliant
At participating venues Children attending these activities can also work towards a Passport to Learning certificate, developed by the Children’s University.
And don't forget we offer early-bird discounts on all our holiday activity, so book at least two weeks prior to the start of the course to receive a 15% discount… Great hey!
Cross Country 5.10.18
Thank you and well done to all of the children who represented our school at the Cross Country event last week at Littleport and East Cambridgeshire Academy.
Many children made it round the course and there were some brilliant examples of determination and self-belief. Our teams came very close to a medal position but equally it was amazing to hear about children who overcame their own self-doubt and finished the race. Everyone did really well and we hope that you will all sign up to our Cross Country Club that is due to start after half term.
Below is a list of the team placings for each of the year groups.
